Welcome to the Shooting Stars Finalist Resource Center!

The Finalist Resource Center is a central place to find details about the Shooting Stars program, including the program calendar, and scholarship guidelines. Finalist program packets (linked below) include specifics about audition and portfolio submission requirements, deadlines and the spring Gala and Awards Ceremony.

To participate in Shooting Stars, students must be a senior in high school (12th grade), a resident of Johnson County, KS and nominated by their high school arts teacher. Once students are nominated by their high school teacher and submit their application, they become finalists in the program.

The Shooting Stars Finalist Program Packet provides an overview of the Program, from nomination in October 2023 to the Gala on April 7th, 2024, where all Finalists are recognized and scholarships awarded.

Performing Arts Audition Day: January 27th, 2024

Strings, Winds & Percussion, Theatre Performance, and Voice Classical category finalists will need to go to the Bell Center at MidAmerica Nazarene University for their in-person audition on Saturday, January 27th, 2024. They will audition in front of 2 judges who will score them based on their performance. We recommend arriving to the Bell Center at least 10 minutes early to warm up in one of the available practice rooms.

Production & Design Interview Day: February 10th, 2024

Theatre Production and Design category finalists will need to go to Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center for their in-person interview on Saturday, February 10th, 2024. They will participate in a portfolio review and interview with 2 judges who will score them based on their portfolio and interview.

Finalist Program Packets

To assist students, parents and teachers throughout the duration of the Program, all Program information has been consolidated into a Finalist Program Packet. The Packet contains detailed information about student Eligibility and Participation Requirements, Scholarship Guidelines, Sample Résumé, Tips for Auditions or Portfolio Preparation, Scoring Rubrics and the Program Calendar for important Program dates and deadlines. Finalists will also find links for Instructions on filming your Audition Videos and Résumé and Portfolio Submission links.
