  2009 Nominating Submissions Information  
     
  Nerman Museum Exhibit / Visual Arts Submission  
 

We have added a new recognition component for the Shooting Stars Program: a month long exhibit of artwork by the Shooting Stars Finalists in the Photography, Three-Dimensional and Two-Dimensional Categories. The exhibit will be at the McCaffree Gallery in the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art at Johnson County Community College. Exhibit Dates are Sunday, March 9 – April 13 (tentative).

Curator for the exhibit will be Bruce Hartman, Director, Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art. Mr. Hartman will select one piece of artwork by each finalist for the exhibit. NOTE: Judging for scholarship competition will be a totally separate process!


EXHIBIT GUIDELINES

  • Each finalist’s must submit five pieces that meet the following criteria. (note: Finalist will submit a total of seven pieces for scholarship judging). ONLY five of the seven submitted pieces by each of the two-dimensional, three-dimensional and photography finalist’s will be considered for the Nerman Museum Exhibit ONLY the five pieces that meet the following specifications/criteria will be considered for the exhibit:
    • Two-dimensional & photography maximum image size will not exceed 24” x 18” x 1”deep.
    • Three-dimensional maximum size: 15” high x 10” wide x 10” deep.
  • The actual artworks of the submitted images MUST BE available for exhibit consideration through Sunday, April 26, 2009.
  • One piece of artwork from each visual arts finalist will be selected for the exhibition.
  • Artwork selected by the exhibit curator MUST BE the work delivered for the exhibit – NO SUBSTITUTION.
  • If the finalists cannot deliver the actual piece of artwork on or before the given delivery date, the artwork WILL NOT be exhibited!
  • The Nerman Museum will frame and mat all the photography and two-dimensional artworks.
  • The Nerman Museum, prior to artwork pickup at the close of the exhibit, will remove the frame for the two-dimensional artwork, returning ONLY the original artwork and mat to the finalist.
  • All finalists will have to sign an artwork loan agreement with the Nerman Museum.
