A Directory of Resources for the Arts Community
We’ve compiled a list of professional development and fundraising opportunities for artists and arts organizations below. Some of them are local to the Kansas City region others are opportunities offered by national foundations.
ArtPlace is a collaboration of top national foundations, the National Endowment for the Arts and various federal agencies to accelerate creative placemaking across the U.S.
ArtsKC Fund Grants. Funding for projects, especially in today’s environment, has become harder and harder to find. The ARtsKC Fund Grants provide financial support for the Arts through three grant programs.
- Catalyst Grants fund Arts programs, projects, and activities such as programs for youth, for families, or for fully accessible and inclusive audiences. Past recipients include the Chestnut Fine Arts Center, Culture House and KC Chalk Walk Festival.
- Inspiration Grants are awarded to individual artists and Arts professionals for projects or career development, in recognition of the valuable contributions they make to our local community. Past recipients include visual artist and designer Richard Fritz, ceramicist and sculptor Rain Harris, and playwright and author David Wayne Reed.
Artist, INC offers a series of career building and professional development workshops for artists, and the new KCArtistLink website provides information about business-building and support programs to all artists throughout the region.
Explore KC Art – Arts Classifieds provides a forum for artists to list classified-style ads.
Charlotte Street Foundation. “Cultivating an environment in which artists and art thrive.” Supports and recognizes outstanding artists in the Greater Kansas City area; encourages the visual, performing and interdisciplinary arts; and fosters economic development. Find resources from open studios to advisors to information on Rocket Grants and Art through Architecture.
Francis Family Foundation. One of the priorities of the foundation is the support of arts and art culture through a Small Arts Grant Program , and more traditional Arts & Culture grants.
Kansas City Volunteer Lawyers & Accountants for the Arts. Legal and accounting assistance to qualifying artists and arts organizations from all creative disciplines. The ArtSmarts program provides seminars in arts law to help artists avoid common pitfalls in their professional arts careers.
Now Showing fosters partnerships between individual artists and Arts Council business investor companies by providing opportunities for artists to display their work in corporate settings. The program introduces employees to metro-area artists, exposes artists to new audiences, and adds an element of inspiration and creativity to local businesses.
Our Town Grant Program (NEA). Through Our Town the National Endowment for the Arts provides a limited number of grants for creative placemaking projects that contribute toward the livability of communities and help transform them into lively, beautiful, and sustainable places with the arts at their core.
